Athletics At Holy Spirit

Fall Sports Registration is Now Open!

There's never been a better time to get involved in Holy Spirit Athletics! Whether your child is trying a sport for the first time or returning for another season, our athletic program helps young athletes build confidence, develop new skills, make lasting friendships, and learn the value of teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Fall sports practices begin as early as July, so register today through GameDay to reserve your child's spot at gameday.loucsaa.net.

We're also looking for volunteer coaches. Coaching is a meaningful way to share your time and talents, mentor our student athletes, and support our school and parish community. Whether you've coached for years or are volunteering for the first time, we'd love to have you join us.

Holy Spirit offers a robust athletic program with more than 20 sports available year-round for members of the school and parish community.
This is a great way to build community and lifelong skills for your student.

There are many choices for your student based on their age, interest, and schedule.

Please note that season dates and schedules vary by sport. Coaches will communicate final team information through GameDay and/or GameChanger after registration closes. The GameChanger app will be used for all communications once the season starts.

League Holy Spirit is part of the Catholic School Athletic Association of Louisville (CSAA), which runs most sports 3-8, and all league rules, schedules, and eligibility requirements are governed by the CSAA and the Holy Spirit Athletics handbook. Visit their website at loucsaa.net for important information.

Sign Ups Parents must register their athlete through GameDay in order to participate at gameday.loucsaa.net. CSAA requires all athletes to attend Holy Spirit School or be active, participating members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Student athletes who do not attend Holy Spirit School must also be actively participating in the parish's required religious education program.

Most registrations will close in July at various times. Non-refundable payment is due at the time of registration and must be made by credit card. If there is high demand for a sport, multiple teams may be created based on tryouts. Registered athletes will receive additional information if tryouts are required.

Cost There is a participation fee for each student and each sport. All sports fees must be paid at the time of registration. No athlete may participate until registration fees have been paid.

Registration fees cover only a portion of the overall cost of the athletic program, including CSAA league fees, uniforms, tournaments, awards, equipment purchases, and equipment maintenance. Annual fundraising helps offset these additional expenses.

Coaching Holy Spirit Athletics relies on parent and parish volunteers to support our teams. Coaching is a rewarding way to get involved, meet other families, and serve our students. No prior coaching experience is required, and training is available.

All coaches must complete SAFE Environment training, a Ministry Center background check, and remain current with all Archdiocese requirements.

Communication All team communication, including schedules, cancellations, and updates, will be distributed through GameChanger. You must download the app, create an account, and accept your team’s invitation. It’s critical that you RSVP for all practices and games in a timely manner.

Parent Volunteer Requirement Holy Spirit Athletics is powered by parent volunteers, and every family is expected to support the program by volunteering during the gym seasons. Volunteer opportunities include staffing the game check-in table, working the concession stand, and other event support as needed.

A volunteer sign-up link will be distributed prior to the season. Families who do not fulfill their required volunteer commitment may be assigned a shift that must be completed or their child/children will not be allowed to sign for the next sport. An opt-out option will be available for $100 volunteer to be excused from the gym volunteering.

Holy Spirit Code of Conduct Our athletes are students. Officials deserve respect. Coaches are volunteers who generously give their time. Parents and spectators are expected to model positive sportsmanship and help create an encouraging environment for every participant.

Photo Submissions Parents, coaches, and spectators are encouraged to share photos that capture the spirit of Holy Spirit Athletics. Photos may be submitted throughout the season to Mel Park at mpark@hspirit.org for consideration on Holy Spirit's website and social media channels.
