Ms. Miller (Art)

K: Kindergarten students will be working on “snow themed” art. We have recently read “The Mitten” by Jan Brett and created a decorated a mitten using patterns. They even designed a border for their paper.

1: Students will learn about Chinese / Lunar New Year, and will create a lantern to celebrate the year of the pig!

2: Students have been discovering art with different views. They created a bird’s eye view snowman, along with a forward view of a winter bird.

3: Third grade will be creating radiant hearts. These will celebrate each color family.

4: Students in the 4th grade have been studying different printmaking techniques. They are currently working on designing and creating their own personal stamp.

5: 5th graders are working on their Presidential portraits. This is a cross-curricular project with Mr. Hulsman.

6 : Students will continue working on their Gothic Cathedral art history study by doing a project. This is a collaborative piece withMr. Reilly in social studies and Mrs. J in music.

7: Students will finish working on their Spirit Night creation piece. These are drawings of their houses. 7th graders are also working on creating an onion dome skyline.

8: Eighth graders will continue to work on Genius Hour. This is a higher-level thinking project, where students choose the topic they want to research (all topics must be approved). Students will be creating something to demonstrate what they researched, and then they will present their findings to the class.
