Marriage

Holy Matrimony

The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring.  This covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament (CCC 1601).

Catholics wishing to enter a valid Sacramental relationship must marry in the Church or receive permission from the Archbishop to marry at another location.

Who May be Married at the Church of the Holy Spirit?

  • All baptized Roman Catholics living within the parish boundaries
  • All registered members of the parish who are baptized Roman Catholic, whether they reside in or outside of the parish boundaries
  • Children of the immediate family of registered members of the parish
  • Baptized Roman Catholics who are not members and who live outside the boundaries of the parish must join the parish and be active participating member for one year. Permission for such weddings is determined by the Pastor.

Compliance with Archdiocesan Policy is mandatory.  Those petitioning for marriage must contact the Ministry Center at least six months in advance of the requested wedding date.
